What villain actually had a good point?
I once thought that villains need our pity. After all, the author has the power of life and death when writing their story.
However, when you see real life villains, what can one do but see them for what they truly are.
The unfortunate thing is that the villainy doesn’t start in one day. People’s greed and hunger for power usually propel the urge to become villainous.
Many people like Hitler in Europe or Abacha in Nigeria are some easy examples. They kill and destroy and take away a people’s hopes, dignity and even lives. In short, human beings like this have no respect for the lives of others.
Maybe those who kill like the policemen who hunted down and killed George Floyd or those who claim to be doing jihad should search themselves and determine if they are still having the human milk in them.
What do we say of those that snatched young people from the African soil 200 to 300 years ago and sold them for gain? What of those who sit these days in board rooms and take calculated decisions that would destroy a whole country like was done to Libya.
What of those that claimed religious purity and destroyed a whole culture and claim to be bringing something better and uprooted the indigenous people in the whole of Northern Nigeria; the troubles have been at the foundation of what continues to hold Nigeria back from becoming a First World country.
Some sit with their cigars hanging between their lips while digging away the wealth of a whole continent and giving them gun to continue to shoot at one another.
You want to see villains?
They are many and varied; and they think that they are right. But we know one thing for sure: they are all ass holes, no matter the colour of their skin or the position they hold in their society.
Their good points are always bad for us all.
