I was passing behind the Lokogoma Estate when I saw a young man dishing out money to some almajeris.
Almajeris are a sort of homeless children within the Northern Nigerian axis. These were usually dropped by their parents with an Islamic trainer to teach them.
Sincerely, I don’t know much about this system. However, what I know is that I feel sad every time I see these young Nigerians coming from around Kabusa in the morning and their destination is usually that dirty space behind the Efab Estate as their begging base. At times, they start the begging right from wherever they could find a car passing. Sometimes, they stop beside the Urban Shelter Estate before continuing to their behind the Efab Estate base.
However, my concern today was when I saw a young man distributing money to them and he was looking cool about it . I was really angry in my spirit. The children looked very grateful for the scraps being handed to them. However, the unfortunate truth is that the better choice would be to put them in school and give them a life!
The consequences of those bad choices are already upon us. The National Open University of Nigeria Bursar was recently shot dead by bandits while coming back from his hometown in Gusau. This was a gentleman that was so quiet that even talking was like forcing him to do something. But he was cut down in the prime of his youth by gun totting people who did not know the value that education brings to a life.
Sincerely, the reality of what we are really doing to ourselves in this country is just coming home to roost. When Bishop David Oyedepo would come up with one spiritual mystery or the other to safeguard members, you would be wondering what is wrong with the man. But he knows what God is telling him. And due to his constant obedience, we have continued to enjoy God’s mercy on us.
I hope someone would see that enough is enough time has come to stop this madness consuming us as a country. At the bottom of this bloodshed remains the greed for money. When will it end?
Only God has that answer.
Meanwhile, find your refuge in the living God. He is the only safe haven now, I can assure you.
It has become a case of olori d’ori ẹ mu across the nation.
May God’s mercy continue to keep us all.
