Not Keeping Malice

What’s something you do completely differently from how you were raised?

I think basically it is about not keeping malice.

I am never one to look for trouble. When you look for my trouble, I give it to you right there and then and move on with my life.

However, my late mom could keep malice for Africa. This was rampant when she was a younger woman. Whenever she saw me speaking to people she had issues with, she would feel I was betraying her. However, I would let her know that people that keep malice must be people who were feted.

So, both of us understood that I would not join in such skirmishes she had with people. However, anyone that was rude to my mom would hear it from me. I would not back her up where she should be the bigger person or if the matter was becoming a malice issue.

So, I would say that where anyone close to me was being unreasonable and expecting me to start keeping malice rather than sorting out an issue once and for all, they would not have my backing for such an immature behaviour.

Otherwise, my parents were strict disciplinarians that taught me integrity and self worth. So, I grew up learning these values and would not change it for anything.

However, they also respected me for my choices. My dad was as vocal as I am. My mom would say what she needed to say but would add the malice topping for measure. I chose to follow my dad’s candid nature and move on after I had said my piece instead.

Do you think I chose right?

Anyway, that is just me being me!
