What’s the best local dish you’ve ever eaten while traveling?
Probably, I will say kose.
It was in Kaduna. I went for an official meeting. It was in the university guest house. It looked like the normal akara I was used to but seems to be made with some other ingredients other than beans. Nonetheless, I’ve never had the courage to buy it from the roadside vendors. I just never felt safe enough to do that.
However, maybe I should really say it is wara.
The way the Fulani women make their cheese in such a way that tastes more like you are eating meat is awesome. I was not going to say it was my best from travelling since I’ve always bought it whenever I had the opportunity but it still fits that bill because I usually get it to buy only when I’m on the road. But funnily enough, I never got tired of eating it. It is the only roadside thing I can think I could never resist buying.
But how could I forget my first experience of Ceasar Salad in Ankara, Turkey? But does this serve as a local dish? I think not. I was to have it in Accra, Ghana but what I got there was not compared to the one I ate in Turkey. So, I guess I could not forget that salacious one. Nice one.
