What’s a piece of technology you’re convinced will exist in 20 years?
Solar energy.
As the world begin to adopt different kind of green energy, it is obvious that it is a technology that will outlive many of us. This is especially crucial in a place like Nigeria where there seems to be a conspiracy to keep electricity out of the reach of the ordinary Nigerian. You go around the cities now, you find many rooftops with their solar panels shinning and reflecting the light.
I know, it is possible that it could have changed form or improved on then, whichever way, but it will remain an important part of our lives beyond the next 20 years.
It was once beyond the reach of many people. However, today, more and more people are able to get the one that is able o provide the basic energy to light up their homes and charge their phones.
So, I believe that as long as the terrible electricity situation in Nigeria persists, people will continue to find a way to provide a leeway for themselves to mitigate the problem. Green energy, mostly in the form of solar power, is the most reasonable answer for now. I know a family that told me that they are totally off the national grid since they moved into their new home.
It is good for the bills and also good for the earth. So, I believe it is one technology that will be available for the next 20 years, especially in a country like Nigeria.
