What’s the best way to deal with negative thoughts?
When negative thoughts are clouding your horizon, what should you do?
The first thing to do is to kick them away. You can rule your thoughts. God has given you that ability. You have the power over your thoughts.
How do you do that?
The Bible says clearly that whatever is right and peaceful are the things you SHOULD think about (paraphrase of Philippians 4:8). If you focus on things worthy of praise to God only, you will be surprised at how your perspective would change for the better.
I will like to share a family instant on the issue of perspective. There was a family emergency. When my husband who was living in another city at the time told me I should come home for the family emergency, I took the first flight and went home.
When I got home, he told me he had not slept for three days in row due to this emergency. When he explained to me what the issue was, I told him he was looking at it from a wrong perspective. I outlined to him the good that was in the issue he was worrying himself about. That ended his worry and gave a lifted spirit. We solved that problem and it has been a source of joy to our family since then.
When you look at the issue of half filled glass and half empty glass, the perspective determines if you think it was positive or negative. The measure of the water remains the same. So, if the water is half full, it is a good thing but if it is half empty, it is negative.
Now if you are worried about the water being almost empty, you worry that water will soon finish. If you see it as half full, you are hopeful that the cup will soon be full. That gives you hope and expectation for growth and forward movement.
So, if you are having negative thoughts, it is because your perspective of the matter may be wrong. Fill your thoughts with the word of God; it will fill you with hope and faith.

Kick out the negative thoughts by filling your mind with positive thoughts.
