What’s a piece of media (book, movie, song) that changed how you see the world?

For me, the most astounding piece of media that changed my perspective of the world is the Holy Bible.

That may seem bland and cliche to some people. After all, that is what the Bible was supposed to do!

You are correct. The Bible is supposed to modify and change your view of the world. However, do you know that some people use it as their talisman under their pillows to ward off evil rather than to read and study it to infuse their spirit with the content and the power that comes with it?

You may not know that but that was where most of us were who were born into the so called Christian homes. Many just knew that there is a book called the Bible but were never taught to read and understand its content. So, when the content is unpacked for them, they are surprised and ask: where did you learn that from?

In the same vein, because they would not read it, they easily get misled by those who decide to twist the Bible and corrupt the message for their own selfish gain. At times, when I see some things online that some so called church people do, my first question is: Don’t they read their Bible?

A popular saying is: God helps those who help themselves. Many assume that this sensibly comes from the Bible. However, the truth is the opposite: God actually helps those who CANNOT help themselves. It is called Trusting in God. It is the highest form of our expression of faith.

So, you see, your trust in God can only be developed from reading and studying your Bible. No one else can help you with that. It takes walking with God by His Holy Spirit’s help through the pages of the scriptures. No software can help you with that. It takes time and commitment to fellowship with the Holy Spirit on the pages of His word daily to achieve that. It is not through mere share bravado. It is developing deep seated faith through trusting in His faithfulness at all times, 1 Thessalonians 5:24.

Thus, I learnt to see my decisions through what the Word says and interacting with the Holy Spirit to find out the mind of God on every decision I make. It has helped me so well that even career and business decisions have been greatly guided by His help.

That is why I tremble only before He who can both kill and cast into hell (Luke 12:5) rather than those who can only kill the body. They have no power over my future, which is ultimately determined by only GOD! I learnt that also from the Holy Bible!
